This elephant is now free after 34 years in chains! ❤️
After a lifetime of hard work, she is finally feeling what freedom feels like.
Her name is Mon, and for years she was used to pull logs deep in the forest. For 34 long years she worked in chains, never knowing what it was like to just be an elephant. This photo was taken on one of her first swims in her new life at a sanctuary in the rain.
She believed that heavy chains were her normal life. Every day was pulling, working, and standing still. She had never been allowed to explore, play in deep water, or splash with her trunk just for joy.
