Apex Tennis Drill reminder:
At the Apex Tennis Center, we run our drills classes based on a player's Universal Tennis Rating. This is different than the NTRP rating given by the USTA. We utilize this as players UTR's are constantly changing. If you play USTA tournaments or Leagues, you have a UTR. To find your rating, you can go to this link. https://www.utrsports.net/pages/how-utr-works

Our policy is that players only sign up for the classes that match their current and active UTR. We understand people want to play "up", but to keep the drills competitive and equitable, we require you have a UTR that matches the drill. The only way around this is if a pro running that class has given you a verbal approval to sign up for a specific drill.
If we find a player has signed up for a drill that doesn't match their UTR and they are not approved by a pro, we will either have the pro speak with the player after the drill, or you may receive an email from Apex staff reminding players of the policy and removing them from a drill to make space for players at the level that are on the waitlist. This can be a difficult conversation for all, but we have to keep the competitive nature of the drill consistent.

If we allow players to play up or out of their listed level, the drills will then fill with players out of level and negating the purpose of having levels in the first place.
For example, just because you may have a rating as a 3. 0 or 4.0, this rating doesn't always translate to a 3 or 4 by UTR standards. This graphic is a quick reference of NTRP to UTR, however we still ask that you check your UTR before signing up.

If you have questions on how to get your UTR up or what you may need to work on to be approved to play in a higher-level drill, please ask a pro the next time you see them.

Nice Shots is a community photo gallery where we can share photos from matches, travel, social events and club activities.

Each month two photos will be highlighted as the Photos of the Month in our newsletter and on our bulletin board at the ATC. One photo for "On court" activities and one for “Off court".

How to submit photos:
1. Log in to your account on the NJTC website
2. Go to the Nice Shots page
3. Click "Submit a Photo"
4. Add your photo and relevant details
5. Hit submit.
