Absolutely loved watching this crew play this past weekend. It was our u14s first year back to the USAFH Regional Club Championships! It’s been a few years and they truly didn’t disappoint.
Pool play was quite a shock to see the teams we were placed with just for pool play. We knew Saturday was going to challenge us.
Our crew fought hard. Game 1 was an early goal in the first half but we came out a whole new team in the second half! So many good fights and not a lack of opportunity. Our opponent had a great defense and we couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net. Single goal game to the team who made it to the National Club Championships last year!!
Game 2 was a nail bitter FOR SURE! Ugh! And it ended in heart break. After a goalless game and an injury to one of our own with only 7 minutes to go - we were left a bit scrambled and our opponent got one in! Another tough 1 goal game!!
Game 3 was certainly going to be another battle! Fatigue set in a little bit. It was another scoreless first half. Our opponent put one in the second half and with seconds to go - Reny put one in to tie up the game! It was a battle to the end!
We were pretty disheartened when we saw that bc we were in one of the two pools of 4 teams - we automatically went the game for 13/14 AND only got one game on Sunday. But Sunday came and we knew we had business to handle!
We finished with a win and scored some goals! 4-0 with goals from Chretien, Edwards, Daigle and Reny. A couple goals were called back, one from Moody and one from Reny. Shoutout to our amazing GKs!! A deserving finish for a crew that was SO CLOSE all weekend!
We may not have had the finish we wanted but our players played with pride and finished with class. They believe in this team, their teammates and most importantly themselves. What they were able to overcome at this event was huge. What they gained from the event was immeasurable. Anyone who watched a game knows what they are capable of and that their placement is NOT a reflection of their talent.
The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit. Keep making deposits!!!!!
Nice work coaches and players 💚🤍🖤
Thank you and Todd for the great pictures!
