It was a day of WFEA exams at the Flying Duchess Ranch today!

We couldn't be more proud of our team. Today was a beautiful day, horses and humans were in sync. Two people upgraded their belts, two people joined the belt system, and two youths joined the competition system!

90 Point, Student III, Belt Exam:
Kasper Woon on Areté passed with a 115.36
Lia Blackett on Bronte passed with a 105.89

30 Point, Student I, Belt Exam:
Tina Price on Bronte, ba****ck, passed with a 40.25
Connor White on Buda, ba****ck, passed with a 43.66

30 Point Competition License Exam:
Journey Welch on Cajun, ba****ck, passed with a 38.2
Julian Creedican on Buda, ba****ck, passed with a 47.06

The first competition of the season was wonderful! What was first going to be a large group ended up much smaller due to horse injuries, people injuries, scheduling conflicts, etc. Despite everything we had beautiful weather, amazing horses, and archers did well. Some even had new personal bests! What a great way to start the season. Thank you all who came to compete and support.

Final results:
Jorge Meza on Buda with 133
Katie Stearns on Ayla with 125.12 (and 100.77 fast horse on Drogo)
Lia Blackett on Bronte with 92.30

We had two of our youths attempt their competition licenses and they were both so very close! We will keep training, and try again soon. They can definitely do it, but the pressure of needing a specific score is difficult to overcome. So proud of their attempts, and we have a few more youths close behind them! We will likely be adding some more competitors very soon.

Looking forward to another season of equestrian archery here at the Flying Duchess Ranch!

For horse archery this year we are doing things differently for the beginner clinic. There will only be one three day beginner clinic here taught by me, but there are prerequisite one day clinics.

May 24 Ground Archery for Horse Archery 10am-1pm
May 31 Riding for Horse Archery 10am-1pm
June 26-28 Beginner Horse Archery Clinic Fri-Sun: 10am-5pm

We are breaking things down to give people an even better understanding of the foundations for horse archery. You have to attend the one day clinics, or have private lessons in each, before attending the three day intensive camp.

Let me know if you are interested in signing up! I have individual registrations for each camp. You do not have to register for the three day clinic to do the one day clinics. Anyone can sign up for the one day clinics. There are event pages for each clinic on this page, with information like cost, etc.
