STAR NET Region II is happy to announce that we have posted our July -December 2017 Training Calendar on the STAR NET web site: www.thecenterweb.org/starnet. Take a few minutes to review all the professional development opportunities available. Please note, the currently posted workshops for the 2017-2018 fiscal year are dependent on continued funding.

Illinois STAR NET is a Support and Technical Assistance Regional NETwork. We provide training, assistance on request, and resources to parents of young children with special needs and professionals in the early childhood community.

Some of our training topics include Writing Development in Preschool, Stress and Anxiety Disorders in Young Children, Team Problem Solving, Transdisciplinary Play Based Assessment, Instructional Practices for Young Dual Language Learners, Strategies for Positive Social Emotional Development, Unconscious Bias, Sensory Processing, the Inclusion Classroom Profile, and more! The STAR NET Region II workshops cover interest areas identified by our Early Childhood Community Representatives, workshop participants and Illinois State Board of Education initiatives and priorities.

Using Video to Promote Inclusion in Early Childhood Programs
March 5, 2015
Presenter: Larry Edelman
Description: This session will illustrate many ways that digital video and video conferencing can support inclusion by
enhancing a number of key practices, including assessment, documentation, individual and group
planning, family support/engagement, self-reflection, coaching, reflective supervision, professional
development, virtual participation, and more. The session will review equipment options and
recommended practices for shooting, file management, editing, security, and sharing clips. An in-depth
resource guide will accompany the session. This workshop is being held in collaboration with Marquardt
School District 15 Administration Center.

Have we got a workshop for you! On January 30, 2015, STAR NET Region II is offering the workshop"You're Going to Love This Kid!" Educating Students with Autism in Inclusive Schools.
Paula Kluth will help attendees define and redefine autism and remind us to listen to the voices of those with autism. You will walk away with strategies to differentiate instruction, create responsive lessons, make the classroom a comfortable environment and increase opportunities for communication and social skill development.

Sharing a Vision is the Illinois statewide Early Childhood Conference! It will be held in Springfield on October 29 and 30, 2015. The conference committee is accepting proposals for presentations at the conference. We encourage you to go to the SAV web site and submit your ideas for a presentation!
