This page is a go to place for anyone interested in the swim team to find information, get updated on how the team is doing, and show their support to the swim team by liking and following. Pieter Ritz - Henderson State University offers here is a quality education along with what we believe to be an excellent swimming and diving training regimen that will help each individual reach his/her academ
ic and athletic goals. Athletically, we do things a little differently than a lot of teams by utilizing weights, plyometrics, and circuit exercises in order to enhance speed, quickness, and strength. We also focus on stroke and turn technique while developing explosive power in order to gain ballistic strength which will translate directly into speed for championship performances by the end of the season. As for me, I trained under Wally Morton at Cleveland State University, and Don Henshaw with Gulf Coast Swim Team in Fort Myers, FL. Coach Matthews on the other hand trained in his younger years in Houston, Texas under legendary Coach Phil Hansel. He then attended the University of Arkansas where he swam all four years under Coach Ed Fedoski. He continues to excel in athletics and is a highly ranked triathlete both in the South Midwest Region, the nation and has won a couple of gold and bronze medals at the 2007 Sr. Olympic National swim meet. (His complete coaching history is available at the website) In the short time period that we have been together, Coach Matthews and I believe that we are beginning to build an atmosphere of family and fun where the amount of success you can achieve is directly related to whatever each individual believes is possible. Three summers ago we added a pulley system for weight assisted swimming as well as other resistance training equipment. This has translated into better fitness and our ability to compete at the highest levels and shatter existing records.
