University of San Francisco Women's Collegiate Rugby We intend to expand the great game of rugby within the Bay Area through competitive and advanced rugby play and training.

The USF/SF State Women's Rugby team, also know as the Bay Area Touring Side (BATS), are a competitive collegiate women's rugby team, focussed on improving the quality and skill of our play. As a Division II rugby team, we compete against other northern California teams within our Western Conference. Current Administration:

B.A.T.S are back for the 2025-26 rugby season and we can’t wait to see new faces!

🏉 All experience levels are welcome
🏉 We build confidence in a supportive team environment
🏉 All inclusive, all are welcome!

⭐️Practices start on Tuesday 8/26 at Negoesco Field from 4-6pm (USF)
⭐️Practices on Thursdays are at Mashouf Field from 4-6pm (SFSU)
⭐️Make sure to bring some running shoes/soccer cleats and sports attire!

Last, we have lovely Anna!

Anna joined our new USF + SFSU B.A.T.S. founding year in 2022. She has served as our backs captain for the last 2 years, secretary her 2nd year, and president her 3rd & 4th year. Anna has done an immeasurable amount of recruitment, management, and leadership for our team. Her rugby knowledge from previous experience has been so incredible and critical for our team over the years. Anna has brought her light and love to be the glue of this team. She has never been afraid of trying new positions and has grown into the amazing player and person as we know her today. Anna has been such a vital part of our team and her presence will be missed. We wish her nothing but success for her future endeavors. We love you so much!❤️

Drumrollllllll….Now we have Liv!

Olivia has spent all 4 years at USF on our rugby team. She has served as forward captain for the last 3 years, vice president her 2nd year, and president her 3rd & 4th year. Her experience from high school and club teams has brought a level of knowledge and familiarity that has made her the incredible leader she is to us. The whole reason we have these games, jerseys, socials is all due to Olivia. She has worked so hard in outreach to coaches and the conference while serving as a role model to the team. We are so proud of you for wrapping up your college career and are so appreciative of everything you have done for us. We wouldn’t be half the team we are without you and cannot wait to see what you accomplish next. We love you so much!❤️

Next up….The Amazing Zia!

Zia joined us this past fall semester and has made such a positive impact on our team. She has brought her knowledge of fitness/exercise from her background in powerlifting into our rugby community. We are so proud of Zia for her courage and hard work. We thank you for always bringing the kindest energy and advice to the team. Zia has been an incredible role model, showing us how to lead with grace with a smile on her face. We wish you the absolute best with life post-grad! We love you so much!❤️

As our season and practices are wrapping up, up we wanted to share and spotlight our 24’-25’ graduating seniors. First up we have Abby!

Joining us just this past year Abby, is a powerhouse! For playing rugby for less than a year, Abby has picked it up with such skill and intensity. She has the ability to keep her field awareness, direct the defense, consistently communicate, all like a pro. Abby always brings light and laughter to practice and has been such a great addition to the front row, forward pack, and our team. We wish you nothing but happiness and success in your future endeavors! We love you so much!
