Northcoast Aikido is happy to welcome Tres Hofmeister Sensei for a Solstice Aikido Seminar, June 19-21, 2026.

Tres Hofmeister Sensei is a student of Mitsugi Saotome Shihan and Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan. He began his training in 1978 and entered Boulder Aikikai under Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan in 1980. Hofmeister sensei is a senior instructor for Aikido Schools of Ueshiba, teaching regularly at Boulder Aikikai and at seminars throughout North America and abroad. Hofmeister Sensei is also a certified practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method®. He has a particular interest in the process of learning in Aikido and its relationship to self-understanding.

A very big thank you to Peggy Sensei and Teresa Sensei for sharing their joy and prayer for peace with us this weekend. Also, a very warm thank you to everyone who came out to share and train together. It was lovely to share and connect together, and we hope it brought a little more light into the world.

Northcoast Aikido will be participating in this year's Obon Festival, Sunday Aug 17th from 3-7pm at the Creamery Building in Arcata, CA.
We will be serving Japanese Chicken Curry and Vegetarian Buddha Bowls as a fundraiser for the dojo. We hope you can stop on by and help celebrate this special event.

John Thomas Read Sensei, founder of Northcoast Aikido, and creator of Aikibojitsu, passed away on July 24th, 2025. He will be missed.
