"Preparing for the Unexpected" at Paddle Golden Gate January 2018 for Advanced Beginner | Intermediate | Advanced Intermediate | Expert sea kayakers

Whether spending time on the ocean is your passion or your profession, you should never have to ask, "What do I do now?" Prepare for the unexpected with this fun, hands-on, wilderness-medicine themed incident management class.

Mark Tozer of NOLS will walk you through a number of emergency scenarios and how to handle them, be that fixing an injury, treating an illness or repairing your kayak. You will go over ways to recognize, treat, and prevent common paddling first-aid situations and on-land boat repairs. If time allows, you may also have the opportunity to learn about on-water boat repair. Students should be prepared to open, inspect, and use the items in their first aid and repair kits. This course may cover up to 6 miles.

The symposium featured in this video took place in Trinidad, California from March 3 to 5, 2017. The next UK event takes place next March 2018 in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The next USA event takes place March 8 to 10, 2019 in Trinidad, California.
