Most of us have heard of the 4 immeasurables (aka the 4 infinite thoughts / the divine abodes / the Brahmavihāras 🥵) but maybe we haven’t had a chance to really explore how to use them and what their purpose is. Are they practical IRL? Who should we treat this way? Where do they take us? Why another list?!

This Thursday at Dharma Club we’ll take a closer look at these four guidances through the lens of both Tibetan Buddhism and Patanjali’s Yoga. COME OPEN YOUR HEART, NO ĀSANA REQUIRED. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 with Laura Johanna

Join visiting guest teacher Sharon Shelton for a talk on how mindfulness becomes less something we “do” and more a way of meeting our lives, especially in the ordinary moments when we’re rushed, reactive, distracted, or caught in habit. We’ll look at what it means to pause, come back into the body, notice what is happening before the mind runs away with it, and cultivate the conditions for greater clarity and freedom.

Sharon is in town to teach a Labor Day Retreat in Bay St. Louis with Flowering Lotus Meditation. There are still spaces available! Check out Flowering Lotus Meditation for more information.

Find a heavenly happy hour under the influence of more than a dozen crystal quartz singing bowls. Tuned to the traditional healing frequency of 432 Hz and spanning the full chromatic scale, they sing a unique music all their own, rich in auditory and vibrational power.

This hour-long immersion on Friday, September 4 at 6:30pm, led by Laura Cherry utilizes the curative potential of vibrational frequencies, which offer each of us whatever we need most: a blissful auditory experience, deep relaxation, emotional release, energetic attunement, and/or mental clarity.

Crystal singing bowls are unique in their ability to produce pure, spherical tones that readily affect our brainwave frequencies and nervous systems, often leaving behind the sensation of a deep mental or energetic massage.

This is a special opportunity to experience the effects of sustained crystal bowls in an uninterrupted immersion.

Welcome email goes out tomorrow, only a little time left to register!

We’ve all heard about the chakras and seen the cute rainbow graphics. Open Instagram and you’ll easily find offerings for chakra tuning or activation. You can just as easily find videos of people dramatically shaking, presented as the awakening of kuṇḍalinī. And phrases like “the subtle body” can easily start to feel like another yoga buzzword.

In this three-week virtual course, we’ll explore traditional understandings and practices of the subtle body, cakras, and kuṇḍalinī, drawing especially from the Śaiva Ta***ic and Haṭha Yoga traditions in which these teachings were developed.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with approaching the cakras as rainbow-colored energetic organs that can be opened, activated, or tuned. But that familiar system is largely modern, shaped by Western esotericism and especially popularized through books and teachers in the twentieth century.

We’ll look further back, exploring teachings and practices found in texts dating from as early as the ninth century.
Personally, I’ve found that these older practices still offer tremendous value not merely as historical curiosities, but as living ways of experiencing ourselves, consciousness, and the sacred.

Over three sessions, we’ll explore:

• subtle body, prāṇa, and nāḍīs
• history and practice of traditional cakra systems
• Kuṇḍalinī, bindu and more

This course is open to everyone.

My hope is that it will be accessible to those completely new to these ideas while also opening new possibilities for those who have worked with the subtle body for decades.

Through teaching, discussion, mantra, meditation, and visualization, we’ll explore how to connect with the subtle body, how to meditate with the cakras, and how these traditions might invite us into a deeper, and perhaps very different, understanding of kuṇḍalinī.

Wednesdays, August 11, 18 & 25
7:30–9:00pm Central
Live on Zoom

Registration is open—visit the link in our bio or send me a DM for details.

Don’t miss out on the value of yoga props because of a mental block (no pun intended!)

This trend may be over but we had one more documentary to add . . .
