We have the pool reserved for January 11 & 18 from 4-8 PM. If you have purchased the PADI eLearning NOW is the time to work on it. Our course cost is going up on January 1st. Sign up & pay for your pool sessions before Christmas 2025 to lock in this year's pricing on this course. We keep our class sizes very small so don't wait too long to sign up.
LEARNING TO DIVE
Learning to Scuba Dive takes a commitment of time. You need to really want to do it. A diver needs to:
*Be in good health. Read through the Diver Medical Questionnaire before doing anything else. Contact us and we can email the questionnaire or stop by the store for a paper copy.
**Make sure you can swim and are comfortable in the water. There's a 200 yard swim to complete and 10 minute Float/tread in the deep end of the pool to do. Some snorkeling experience doesn't hurt either.
***Do the PADI eLearning - This is where you learn about the physics & physiology involved with diving. Find out about the equipment, the environment and other things you need to know to dive. The PADI eLearning allows you to complete most of the classroom training online and at your own pace.
****Participate in one instore class session before going to the pool. We'll fit you for equipment, have you learn how to put the equipment together and take it apart. There's a short PADI "Quick Quiz" to take, registration materials to fill out and a few things to discuss before going to the pool. Once you finish the eLearning contact the store to set up a time to do this.
*****Go to the pool to learn basic diving skills. This is where you'll learn how to do the in water skills like getting the water out of your mask if it fills up underwater. Practice skills for out of air situations. Work on buoyancy so you can stay where you want to be in the water column and much more.
******Do Four Open Water dives in a lake, ocean, quarry...for certification. This is where you'll put the skills you learned in the pool into actual use. Some people do their dives up here where the water is cooler and not as clear. Many people get a referral from us and do their dives down south in an ocean where the water is clearer but there can be waves & currents. Each environment is a little different. We DO NOT do open water dives in Wisconsin in the winter. We wait until Spring when it warms up.
We are planning on doing Pool Dives January 11 & 18. If you are interested in doing the pool dives in preparation for a winter trip get your deposit in to hold your space in the pool dives!
