I fished the Wolf River Bass Club tournament last Saturday out of Cox landing in Marinette on the Menonminee River. Unfortunately I earned my first ever DQ by bringing in a short fish. The DQ was frustrating, but it was more frustrating that I missed multiple fish that would have kept me from risking the short fish DQ.

Outside of the frustration, it was a fun day. I fished for smallmouth all day. My three largest fish were caught on a top water (Berkley Screamin Choppo), and my fourth keeper bit a ned rig.

Dad fished as a guest and caught a couple on a buzzbait. He also missed one around 4 lb that hit the buzzbait too.

Time to put the frustrations in the rear view mirror and get ready for my last three tournaments of the year. These will all be on the Wolf River.

Remote plots going in the great north UP. Has been a big project of ours clearing trees, stumps and now finally putting down quality seed from Physis.
