Together we honor,
Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, a distinguished officer in the United States Navy SEALs, who tragically lost his life during Operation Red Wing in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005. For his courageous actions in the line of duty, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, as he bravely risked his life to call for assistance for his team while under enemy fire. In tribute to his heroism, the renowned annual
“Murph” CrossFit workout is named in his honor.
The “Murph” is an iconic CrossFit “Hero WOD” (Workout of the Day) established to commemorate Navy SEAL Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, who gave his life during combat in Afghanistan in 2005. It is an intense bodyweight workout that challenges both physical and mental
endurance.
The Workout (Rx Version)
To complete the workout for time (meaning you aim to finish it as quickly as possible), you perform the following:
- 1-Mile Run
- 100 Pull-ups
- 200 Push-ups
- 300 Air Squats
- 1-Mile Run
The Vest:The prescribed (Rx) version of the workout involves wearing a weighted vest, which is 20 lbs (9 kg) for men and 14 lbs (6 kg) for women.
