Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing
What is “RMR”?
“RMR” stands for Resting Metabolic Rate. RMR determines the amount of energy or calories your body is using at rest in order to support basic functions, including breathing and circulation.
Why should I test my “RMR”?
Results from this test can help you construct an effective weight loss plan based off of your individual caloric needs. It can explain frustrated attempts to lose weight in the past, such as a weight plateau, as it screens for a slowed metabolism. Once your goal weight has been reached, an RMR measurement can give you the precise caloric prescription necessary to maintain that goal weight.
How long does the test take?
The test takes approximately 10 minutes.
What is “Reduced RMR”?
Reduced RMR can be a result of a decrease in body weight muscle or fat, reduced calorie, older age, or other health conditions or medications
What is “Increased RMR”?
Increased RMR may be a cause of increased muscle mass or possible health conditions or medications
