It is with a sad heart that I am writing this post.
We have lost another GHHS wrestling family member.
Miguel Sandoval Sr passed away this morning from COVID. His son, Miguel Jr, wrestled for us. He graduated in 2019.
Miguel Sr was a good man gone too soon. He was a great wrestling parent, always supportive of his son and the team. He always helped out with a smile wherever he was asked.
It has been an honor to call him friend and we will miss him terribly.
Please keep his family in your prayers and positive thoughts.
Hold your family close and tell them that you love them on the daily.

I want to echo the statements from Joel Hurtt and Alex Gonzalez. Writing posts like this are the most difficult things we do as coaches and educators.
Tyler Shelton was a three sport athlete at Granite Hills High School. Football, Wrestling and Swimming.
As great an athlete he was he was a greater person. As a student in my class he was always upbeat friendly to everyone in class. Even when he was a little rambunctious I would just mention it and he would hit his reset button and refocused on the class.
I will always remember his 1,000 watt smile and the light in his eyes.
Thank you for willing to serve to protect our freedoms.
He will be missed.
Our prayers are with his family and friends.

It is with a sad heart that I am posting that we lost a member of the Granite Hills wrestling family.
Freddy Agraz, 04 state qualifier, passed away earlier this week.
He was one of the original wrestlers in our first wrestling team in 1999-2000.
His sister Xylona was also one of our stat girls.
His smile was infectious even when I was not happy with him.
If anyone has any Freddy stories please share them if they are family friendly.

When he was a freshman and sophomore he only weight about 85 lbs. he would get tossed around the mat. He would be angry and discouraged. Coach Walton and I would pay him on the back, give him some encouragement and tell him his time will come.
As he got bigger he began to dominate his opponents and his confidence grew. I enjoyed watching him grow and find success in the sport.
He will be greatly missed.
RIP Freddy Agraz

The athletes have been doing a great job at CIF Individuals this weekend.
Their progress over the past season has been very apparent. The coaches and I have been very happy and proud of them.
Dakarie Porter at 132lbs made it to Saturday but was not able to move on to the medal rounds.
Junior 220lb Gabe Mirelez is wrestling for third and fourth and has qualified for Masters.
The rebuilding is in full effect.
