Chair yoga is a variation of Hatha yoga that incorporates a chair as a prop for support in both seated and standing postures. This adaptation makes yoga more accessible to individuals with mobility challenges, balance issues, or those who
simply prefer a more supported practice. By using a chair, students can enhance their range of motion in their arms and legs, safely explore yoga postures, and
build strength and flexibility without the need to get on the floor.
Restorative yoga is a practice that helps the body integrate and heal. This is accomplished by triggering a cascade of events that bring the body into a state of healing. Rest and relaxation are key elements to healing and there are specific processes that take place in the body to help us rest and relax as well.
encourages the body to activate these processes which we call the calm cascade.
The intention is to promote the deepest level of relaxation and alleviate the effects of stress in our lives. Restorative yoga differs from other forms of yoga, in that the goal of restorative yoga is not to stretch or strengthen muscles, but to tap into the body’s natural resources to establish self-regulation and homeostasis, or equilibrium.
