The Anoka Dance Team Booster Club is beyond excited to introduce the new Anoka Twisters Dance Team head coach - Sydney Jo Wilton!
Meet Coach Sydney!
Hi everyone! I am so excited to be joining the Anoka Dance Team family this season! I can't wait to get to know each of you and help build something special together. Here are a few fun facts about me!
My Dance Journey:
I've been dancing since I was 3 years old.
I trained at The Dance Shoppe (now Summit Dance Shoppe) and Genesis Dance Company.
I danced on the Wayzata High School Varsity Trojets Dance Team.
During college, I had the incredible opportunity to take classes at the Sydney Dance Company while studying abroad in Australia.
Coaching & Teaching Experience
Taught at Medina Just For Kix for over 10 years.
Varsity Dance Team Coach at Fridley High School for 3 years.
Head Dance Team Coach for Saint Paul Public Schools for 7 years.
Most recently served as the Varsity Coach at St. Michael-Albertville High School for 2 years.
I've also taught at Vogue Dance Company, where my oldest daughter currently dances!
My Family:
Family is everything to me! My husband and I have three beautiful daughters:
Danae (almost 4)
Jamie (almost 2)
Clarke (7 months old - turning 1 at the end of December)
You'll probably hear plenty of stories about them throughout the season and see them frequently!!
Outside of Dance:
I own my own business, My Event Buddee, where I work as a wedding planner and designer. Before that, I earned my degree in Graphic Design, so I absolutely love anything creative! I'm especially excited to be involved in the visual side of our program—from custom apparel and branding to costumes and graphics.
What Matters Most to Me:
A few things I value deeply:
Building a positive and supportive team culture.
Working hard while still having fun.
Family and maintaining a healthy balance.
Education and doing your best in the classroom.
Taking care of yourself—because self-care isn't selfish, it's essential.
I truly believe dance should help your dancers grow not only as athletes, but also as leaders, teammates, and confident, kind young individuals. My goal is to help each dancer become the very best version of themselves—both on and off the floor. I can't wait to cheer them on, challenge them, and celebrate everything we'll accomplish together this season.
