USNA Command and Seamanship Training Squadron

USNA Command and Seamanship Training Squadron Command & Seamanship Training Squadron (CSTS) is one of the premier summer leadership training programs for Midshipmen at the US Naval Academy.

The Midshipmen receive training in leadership, seamanship and navigation through offshore sailing and voyage planning. During the summer, CSTS sends the sail training craft, Navy 44s, crewed by 3/c Midshipmen and led by 2/c and 1/c Midshipmen, USNA Faculty, Staff, or Civilian volunteers. They sail to various ports up and down the east coast during the four-week long training blocks. Week 1 consist

s of midshipmen training at the Naval Academy. Weeks 2-4 consist of local area training and the offshore passage, port visit and return.

Even after weather delayed their departure from USNA, Squadron 3B made excellent time up the coast and through NYC. They pulled into Oyster Bay yesterday evening and they are ready for a few days of liberty. Big thank you to Oakcliff Sailing and Oyster Bay for welcoming our sailors!
