🚤 In Honor of National Safe Boating Week ⚓
We're proud to support safe, smart boating—this week and every week. Did you know the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) conducts random safety inspections on the water? Be ready by checking these essentials before you leave the dock:
🔸 Life Jackets – One U.S. Coast Guard-approved PFD per person on board. Children under 13 must wear one at all times.
🔸 Fire Extinguisher – Required for boats with enclosed compartments. Ensure it’s charged and accessible.
🔸 Distress Signals – Flares or visual distress signals are a must in coastal waters and large lakes.
🔸 Sound-Producing Device – A horn or whistle is required to alert other vessels in low-visibility or emergency situations.
🔸 Navigation Lights – Must be fully functional from sunset to sunrise.
🔸 Current Registration – Your boat must display valid registration and have documentation onboard.
🔸 Throwable Flotation Device – Boats 16 feet or longer must carry a Type IV throwable (like a cushion or ring buoy).
🌊 Let’s make this boating season the safest one yet. A little preparation goes a long way!
