Clothes

- Common clothing appropriate for most golf courses consists of collared polo style shirts and khaki style shorts/pants.

- Some smaller public courses will let you wear jeans.

- During cooler weather, sweaters or rain pullovers with long pants are appropriate.

- Golfers can always buy golf specific apparel which would certainly be appropriate as well.

Footwear

- Golf shoes come in more traditional and modern styles.

- You can pick golf shoes with spikes or a spike less molded bottom.

Headwear

- Most golfers wear baseball cap style hats or visors.

- Most golf brands have their logos on a variety of hats.

- While the previously mentioned hats are most popular there are other less common types.

*(Any hat with a golf brand on it is okay to wear they might just stand out a bit more.)

Accessories

- While not absolutely necessary, the vast majority of golfers wear a golf glove while playing (except while putting).

- The glove goes on the bottom hand, the hand closest to you on the golf grip.

*** Right-handed golfers use a left-hand glove and left-hand golfers use a right-hand glove. (Make sure you pay attention when buying a glove, as the glove you need is opposite the hand you golf.)***

Types of Clubs
1) Woods

Woods include the driver (1 wood), 3 wood, 5 wood, and so on. They have a shorter hitting surface off the ground but more material behind the hitting surface for a lower center of gravity. Woods get their name from the fact that they were originally made of wood.

2)Irons

Irons have a taller striking surface and much less material behind the hitting surface. Irons usually come in sets from 3 iron thru pitching wedge (commonly seen as 3-pw).

3) Wedges

Wedges are irons that include and go beyond the pitching wedge. Wedges beyond the pitching wedge continue to have a higher loft and are used for shorter shots or shots close around the green.

4) Putters

Putters are used to putt the ball on or just off the green at the cup. They come in a variety of lengths, weights, and head designs.

📢 What Does “FORE” Mean? And When Should You Use It? 📢

The term “fore” is used in golf as a warning to other golfers or bystanders that they might be in danger of being hit by a golf ball.
(It’s pronounced just like the number four, just spelled different.)

1) Better Safe than Sorry
- If you hit a ball and it looks like there is a chance it could hit someone, you should yell “fore”.

2) Add Detail
- If you can include something descriptive with it such as, “fore right!”
- (if you’re alerting people on the right side of a hole) it can also help ensure the people hear and understand you are talking to them.

3) Yell it Out
- It is important to make sure you are yelling “fore” loud enough for people who might be a few hundred yards away to hear you and respond.

4) Stick with Fore
- The reason you yell “fore” instead of “look out” or “heads up” is because golfers know what that means and that they should duck and cover themselves.
- Alternatively, when someone yells something else most people’s reaction is to look up (which is the opposite thing that needs to happen.)

5) Use, Don’t Abuse
- You should use “fore” in the proper context. Don’t get too carefree about it and yell at people as a joke, but you should never feel afraid to loudly alert people who may be hit by your ball.

6) No Shame
- Having to yell “fore” is NOT something out of the ordinary. If you have ever watched professional golf, you have probably seen one of the tour players have to yell “fore”.

7) Everybody Does
- Don’t think if you have to yell “fore” that you are a bad golfer or are in trouble.
- We all hit bad shots and have to yell “fore” sometimes.

8) Give Room
- This is why it is important not to play too closely behind the group in front of you.
- By keeping plenty of distance and not playing “up on them” you greatly reduce the risk of potentially of hitting close to anyone.

9)Duck and Cover
- As mentioned early, it is important to use the correct word (fore) to alert golfers a ball might be coming there way.
- It is also important that as a golfer you know what to do when you’re on the other end of things and hear “fore” yelled.
- You need to be prepared to duck down, hide behind something close, and cover your head.

10) This will help keep you safe while you are out enjoying the game of golf.

🧠 Golf smarter, not harder! 🧠

If you are putting your tee in the ground without using your ball . . . STOP!!!

1) It helps get the tee in harder ground much easier.
2) It makes you look like a golfer. (No golfer tries to put the tee in the ground without the ball)😉

🇺🇸 Benjamin Franklin would be a great golfer!🇺🇸

♟️ Golf is a game of strategy! ♟️

“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”- Ben Franklin

🙄 The average golfer’s plan is: hit it as far as I can and get it in the hole in the fewest strokes possible. 🙄

🧐 If they can play decent golf with a plan like that, think how much better you’ll be with a real plan! 🧐
