A letter to Societe...
3 and a half years ago, my life changed forever! I walked into the doors of a community that reaked of fun, energy, joy and an overall passion for connection through fitness. I knew, right away, that I needed to be aligned with this! As an instructor I was able to get to know the individual members, their stories, and through that I discovered that WE are more alike than not. We all have a longing for deeper connection, belonging, and to be genuinely cared for. And this is just what Societe provided for me.
Fast forward to becoming the owner...whew, you wanna talk about a dream come true. I never would have thought that a little black girl from Kalamazoo, MI would end up owning her own business in Ann Arbor...not because I wasn't capable, but because I hadn't been shown that someone who looked like me, could have a seat at that table. Owning Societe has been such a joy. I have grown in ways, I didn't recognize I needed and I have fostered relationships with people whom I will be friends with for life. I'm so SO grateful!
With that being said, with great sadness, I have to announce that Societe will be closing at the end of this Month. Unfortunately the damage from the Pandemic has been far too great and we have not been able to bounce back. My team and I have tried with every fiber in our body, over the past 20 months, to keep this small business alive in the face of
the Covid Crisis...but the blow to our industry and our membership was just too massive.
I love Societe with all of my heart, and I am soo thankful for the people that believed in us and supported us, through this altering time. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!
