To celebrate 5 years of service and his unwavering dedication, we gifted Director and co-founder Justin Harper a custom designed pair of CLR Academy Air Force Ones from 1of1.

The shoes were designed by 1of1 owner, 10th grader Josh Lee, who has also been volunteering with the Academy all summer.

We’re proud to share that CLR Academy has been named Partner Organization of the Year by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.

Over the past five years, CLR Academy has grown from a grassroots idea into a community-driven platform focused on developing minds, bodies, and futures. Through free sports programming, mentorship, education, and wellness initiatives, we’ve had the opportunity to serve and support hundreds of young people across Washtenaw County.

This recognition is a reflection of our kids, our families, our coaches, and our partners who show up every day and believe in what’s possible.

We’re incredibly grateful—and we know the work is just beginning.

We kicked off Part 1 of our Fashion Creation Workshop with an incredible visit from Desyree Nicole at CLR Academy.

Our students had the opportunity to learn directly from a rising designer—exploring how ideas turn into real designs, and how creativity can become a pathway to confidence and future opportunity. The energy in the room was powerful, and this is just the beginning.

From Idea to Icon | CLR Academy Fashion Workshop by Desyree Nicole

This Saturday will be part 1 of an amazing 2 part fashion workshop for the kids. 100% free and open to all kids K-8.

Black history is meant to be experienced.

This past Saturday, CLR Academy welcomed back the Black History 101 Mobile Museum as part of our Black History in Motion event. Through the ABC’s of Black History, our students explored powerful stories, artifacts, and lessons that bring history to life.

Partnerships like this help us ensure the next generation not only learns history — but understands the legacy they are a part of.
