Tonight at the JV Audubon Tournament CAM had two wrestlers place. Talan Anderson placed 4th place at 151-152 and Gunner Namanny took 2nd at 215-220.

Tonight we went to the Coach Riley Tournament in Nodaway Valley. CAM placed 10th as a team. Individually, Kegan Croghan (132) won by fall for 7th place overall. Tristan Becker (138) did not place. Brayden Chester (145) placed 6th. Gave Rouse (160) placed 4th. Brian South (170) placed 2nd. Owen Hoover (182) placed 3rd by a major decision. Congratulations Cougar wrestlers and good luck for the rest of the season!

We had our first dual yesterday, December 1st at Lenox high school. It was a successful night with our first win of 24 to 21! Kegan Croghan (132), Gabe Rouse (160), and Brian South (170) all had automatic wins due to forfeits.

Our first wrestler Owen Hoover (182) had a tough battle of wrestling at 195 pounds. His opponent had the lead in the first period with a score of 2-0 but Hoover quickly came back in the second period with a reversal bringing the score to 2-2. His opponent came back and also had a reversal bringing the score to 2-4. In the third period Hoover chose top but his opponent had gotten a reversal right away. Hoover was able to score one last time with an escape which brought the match to an end with a score of 3-6.

Our next wrestler Gunner Nammany (220) started the match off with a battle when his opponent got a take down right away. The two battled back and forth and ended the first period with Lenox in the lead with a score of 2-0. Starting off in the second period Nammany chose top but his opponent got the upper hand and had a reversal following with a pin.

Next we had Tristan Becker (138) who had to wrestle at 145 pounds. Becker’s opponent was eager for a win and got a takedown taking the lead of 2-0. Becker’s opponent quickly followed up on the takedown and got a pin in the first period ending the match.

Brayden Chester (145) was also bumped up to 152 but he did not let this bring him down. He quickly got a takedown which he followed up on with a pin with 44 seconds remaining in the first period. This was Chester’s first win as a high school wrestler.

With Chester leading the team we ended the night with an overall win of 24-21. We are excited for the rest of the season as we make our debut as an individual team for the first time in 16 years. Stay tuned for pictures taken by one of our managers, Olivia South! We will also be updating throughout the day tomorrow, December 3, during the Coach Riley Invitational.
