September is Su***de Awareness Month.
To all the athletes reading this: you are so much more than the numbers that define your performance. the goals, the stats, the playing time. Your value is beyond the scoreboard.
But here's a reality we can't ignore:
About 34% of elite athletes report symptoms of depression or anxiety. Nearly 35% of Olympic-level athletes face similar struggles. Yet these challenges often happen in silence.
During injury recovery, 70% of athletes develop mood-related issues. The pain of healing isn’t just physical. it’s mental too.
Nearly 50% of retired athletes continue to battle with mental health after leaving the game they once knew.
For student-athletes, the pressures are intense: anxiety, depression, stress . many go unspoken or untreated.
Remember this: No stat, no performance metric, no momentary high or low makes you more or less of a person. You are irreplaceable, and your well-being matters most.
If your days feel heavy, you’re not alone and asking for help is a sign of incredible strength, not weakness.
