The final day of the 2026 “Advanced Rigging for Rope Rescue” program has officially wrapped up. Day 4 challenged our 1st year attendees with tower climbs and rappels, sloped highlines, drooping highlines, and the well-known “Turret Drill” — a long vertical rescue evolution conducted in the magazine shaft.

This marks the conclusion of another outstanding year of Advanced Rigging for Rope Rescue. We would like to sincerely thank our program partners, Anderson Rescue Solutions and Aliias Training, along with the North Carolina Battleship for their incredible hospitality and support throughout this program.

This year’s program brought together 48 outstanding students ranging from 1st to 3rd year participants. Thank you all for your hard work, professionalism, and willingness to think outside the box while learning the “whys” behind rope physics and advanced rescue systems.

To our cadre of instructors — thank you for your continued dedication, professionalism, and commitment to delivering high-level technical rescue training. These 11 incredible men and women, representing departments and teams from the mountains to the coast, bring a depth of knowledge, skill, and experience that makes this program truly special and difficult to replicate.

We are proud of what this program continues to build: competent rescuers, strong teamwork, and a culture committed to learning and advancing the technical rescue profession.

Day 3 of the “Advanced Rigging for Rope Rescue” course also marked the first day for our incoming 1st year students. Today focused on building a strong foundation in advanced rigging concepts through hands-on training and problem-solving evolutions.

Students worked with artificial high-directional systems, operated in confined spaces, explored changing direction anchors and force considerations, practiced patient packaging for confined space environments, and examined alternatives to traditional rigging systems.

Another great day of learning, teamwork, and developing the skills needed to solve complex rescue problems in challenging environments.

Day 2 of the “Advanced Rigging for Rope Rescue” course wrapped up for our 2nd and 3rd year participants. Today brought a series of fun, competition-style drills that challenged everyone to think differently, adapt quickly, and work collectively in small groups to accomplish complex tasks at height and in tight spaces.

The evening concluded with a presentation on Span Anchors for both our returning participants and the incoming 1st year students. Great teamwork, strong problem-solving, and another solid day of building skills and experience.

Day one of the "Advanced Rigging for Rope Rescue" complete. 1st day started at noon and finished up at midnight and was a long one for returning 2nd and 3rd year students performing advanced techniques like lead climbing in urban environments, Recovery of failed systems (when things go bad how to fix the problem), Crosshauls in confined spaces and negotiating tight rescues in confined spaces.

PSIG would like to thank the partnership collaboration of Aliis Training and Anderson Rescue Solutions for helping make this happen.
