Congratulations to senior Reese Roeder who broke the school record in the 500 free with a time of 6:08.44 at the March Madness Invitational in Oakdale this past Saturday, March 14. The previous record of 6:11.10 was set by Kayley Rasmussen in 2012.

More congratulations are needed for junior Silas Langdon who broke another school record. Last Wednesday when hosting Summerville, Langdon became the school record holder in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.98. The previous record of 2:18.28 was set by Joey Hecocks at the League Meet in 2015.

Bret Harte Swimming will travel to Roseville this Friday, March 20 to compete in the 24th annual Woodcreek Swim Invitational held at the Roseville Aquatics Complex. Congratulations to senior Tumi Owens for being named the Mother Lode League’s Most Valuable Player and junior Triston Plowman as the League’s Most Outstanding Player.

As a guard, Owens joined the school’s elite 1,000-point club in addition to finishing his senior season with 374 total points, scoring 10 or more points 22 times. In total, Owens recorded 58 3-point baskets, had 134 rebounds, 129 assists and 49 steals.

As a forward, Plowman finished his junior season with a team-high 511 points, scoring 10 or more points 25 times and had double-digit rebounds 11 times. In total, he had 262 rebounds, 26 assists and 17 steals. Plowman scored a career-high 40 points with 18 rebounds versus Big Valley Christian.

More congratulations are in order for seniors Sawyer Maurer and Mason Williams who earned first-team and second-team all-league honors, respectively.

“Maurer scored 10 or more points 18 times, including scoring 29 points in a road win over Big Valley Christian. He was also second on the team in rebounding, as he had 10 or more boards 14 times. Maurer finished the season with 348 total points, 266 rebounds, 27 assists, 27 steals and 12 3-point baskets…. Williams scored 10 or more points 12 times. He finished the season with 228 points, 87 rebounds, 66 assists, 39 steals and 23 3-point baskets.”

Earning the Character Award was senior Niko Kreisberg. “Kreisberg scored 198 total points, had 122 rebounds, 79 assists and 40 steals, and scored a game-high 24 points in Bret Harte’s section championship victory over Argonaut.”

All-academic team members include Kreisberg, Maurer, Matthew Nord, Chase Phillips, Finn Smith, and Williams.

Congratulations to senior Ayla Jodie on becoming the latest school record holder in the girls pole vault. This past Friday at the Timberwolf Invitational in Manteca, Jodie broke the previous record by clearing 9'10" and then immediately thereafter clearing 10'0"!

Coach Byrnes shared, “This is another example of our students displaying consistent, and focused hard work culminating in great results.”

Bret Harte Swimming beat Calaveras yesterday evening in San Andreas. The girls' score was 128-28 and boys 87-46. Junior Silas Langdon broke the school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.41. The previous record of 56.44 was set by Colin Boblet at the Sac-Joaquin Section Prelims in 2015.

Last Friday at the Grizzly Invite in Granite Bay, Langdon broke his own 50 free record with a time of 22.71. He previously broke the 10-year-old record of 22.82 at the Section championships on May 12, 2025 in Elk Grove. Langdon now holds three school records in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 butterfly. Langdon’s times so far this season have qualified him for post-season competition in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 butterfly scheduled to begin on May 06 in Elk Grove.

Bret Harte Swimming will host Summerville next Wednesday, March 11 in Angels Camp. Meet begins at 4:00 PM. Admission is cashless. Athletic passes and cards accepted.

Congratulations to senior Landon Camacho for being named the Offensive Player of the Year for the Mother Lode League.

With a total of 24 goals, Camacho joins just four other Bullfrogs to earn this honor.

Reporter Guy Dossi wrote on February 24, “Camacho is the first Bullfrog to earn the award since Freddy Barboza in 2009 and 2010." Adding, "Camacho joins Barboza, along with Scott Frohreich (2008), Aaron Elevi (2002) and Dan Plowman (1999), as Bret Harte players to be named the league’s top offensive player.”

Additionally, sophomore Marcus Kelley was a first-team League selection and seniors Brayden Bowersox, Jonathan Carter, and Jace McLaughlin earned second-team League honors. Senior Pablo Carrillo-Wright earned the character award.

All-academic team members include Bowersox, Carrillo-Wright, Carter, Urijah Gish, Kelley, and Joshua Schuler.

Basketball teams advance to round two in state playoffs

Bret Harte Boys Basketball beat Enterprise High School 57-47 last night in Redding in the first round of the CIF State Boys Basketball Championships. Next, the Bullfrogs will travel to Burlingame High School, tomorrow Thursday, March 05 for round two of CIF State Boys Basketball Division IV Championships. Game time is 7:00 PM. Basketball state playoffs round one brackets released || Both Bret Harte basketball programs were moved to the CIF State Basketball Championships division four in the first round of the playoffs.

As the Sac-Joaquin Section D5 Champions, Boys Basketball were seeded 14th and will hit the road for Redding tomorrow Tuesday, March 03 to play the 3rd seeded team, Enterprise High School.
