Redbud Trail - Woodlawn to K-96 Project Information
Redbuddy Craig attended the City of Wichita's presentation on the planned project timeline at the Rockwell Branch Library last night. Here's the top line:
The project is broken into two phases:
Phase 1: Woodlawn to Rock Rd.; Rock Rd. to K-96. Timeline: Approx. 1 year beginning immediately.
Phase 2: Rock Rd. bridge. Timeline: Approx. 1 year with an expected start late '26 or early '27.
Rail-to-trail conversion on the Woodlawn to Rock Rd. section will begin immediately. This work is expected to take about 60-days.
Rock Rd. will be skipped (per above expected timeline). Work will continue on the Rock to Webb and Webb to Greenwich sections, likely in that order. Crossings at these these intersections will be upgraded including median upgrades and new Hawk crossing signals at all intersections including Woodlawn. (They flash yellow for a few seconds then turn solid red.)
The contractor expects other sections of the trail will remain open while working on the current section they're working on, however...
PLEASE ABIDE BY ANY "TRAIL CLOSED" SIGNS.
Bottom Line: Approx. 2 years of disruption for what will ultimately be an AMAZING community asset!
