Hey Connecticut legislators: change our law

A 16-year-old forced his way into Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon Thursday afternoon, firing through the locked doors just after 1 p.m. Dispatch had already fielded dozens of 911 calls within minutes, and officers ordered the school into lockdown before most of them even arrived. By the time it ended, three children —ages 5, 8 and 11 —and a teacher were dead. A second child, 7, and a 54-year-old teacher were left in critical condition.

One person didn’t wait for police. Police Chief Mike Krantz says a community member who saw the s∗ooter enter the building 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦 before officers ever reached the scene. “𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘥,” Krantz told reporters.

Federal law enforcement sources tell Fox News the bystander was carrying under a concealed handgun permit —not a badge, not a paycheck, just a legal fi***rm and the will to use it. This wasn’t a trained tactical team. It was a neighbor.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek, who has spent her career pushing gun restrictions, publicly thanked the armed citizen anyway. Krantz confirmed officers ultimately located 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞 —the four victims, and the s∗ooter himself.

The mayor’s recent comments about tabling the ordinance are not within his power alone, that decision is made by the Town Council after the public comment period tomorrow. WE MUST URGE THEM: VOTE NAY!
