Dobush Farm ~ Sensible Horse Training Sensible Horse Training is owned and operated by Maya Dobush. At the farm, I teach riding and driving and also have horses for sale. in Environmental Biology.

I am a horse trainer and farmer with a B.S. I have been training horses formally since 2000, but I have been riding all of my life. My life has many inherent, seasonal surprises. Every spring is flooded with life and new beginnings. Every winter is a closure of the season before. Horse training and farming are my glory. All of my horse training is catered to your specific needs. I grew up on a far

m similar to my own but in western New York on Lake Ontario. Our entire family rode and drove our horses and ponies. At 15, my mother introduced me one of my biggest influences. He endowed me with the knowledge to train horses patiently. I worked for this hobby Thoroughbred breeder for a couple years where he taught me how to start the horses for saddle, When they came back from the track, we taught them to be jumpers or trail horses. I still have a soft spot for Thoroughbreds. Through college I continued to help people with their horses to work off board for Noodle, a horse from my hish school days that I still own today. Each horse I work with has taught me so many things. Some of my toughest horses to work with end up being the most rewarding challenges.

Scrolling through my pictures on a rainy day I get to relive moments. Today’s pick is a brief history of “Ferdinand.” He is a four and a half year old Cleveland Bay cross I purchased last year to start under saddle. Originally named “Ares” (God of War I believe) I rebranded him “Ferdinand “ after the bull. He would much rather smell the flowers under a Cork tree than put up a fight.

I was asked to teach a four session clinic this spring to help my friends with basic horsemanship and the end goal of a trail ride together. Most are new at horse ownership and the horses involved are are various levels of training. This was way out of my comfort level as I wasn't sure I could handle a group. We have met three Thursdays so far with the next one being our trail ride. I have had so much fun teaching everybody from the ground work to us now trotting together in the ring. I am beaming with pride for everyone from person to their equines! Thanks most of all to Marissa who thought I could do it!

This past Sunday was spent with many of my driving friends at Robin and Wilson Groves "Continueous Drive Event" It is a great way to wrap up a season of training and even competing with my Dales Pony Stallion Percey. Man have we come a long way and still have an even longer road ahead of us!
