Hunter-Themed R***e Match
Targets
Targets will consist of a cardboard deer silhouette with clearly marked heart, lung, and liver kill zones.
Each shooter will be assigned an individual target labeled with their name.
Targets will be placed at 100 yards.
A numbered marker will be positioned next to each target to assist shooters in identifying their assigned target.
Course of Fire
The match will consist of 15 rounds for score, fired as follows:
5 shots prone
5 shots sitting or kneeling
5 shots standing (off-hand)
No artificial rests or supports are permitted during the course of fire.
Tie-Breaker Shot
Each target will have a 1-inch orange paster placed on the side of the deer’s head.
After completing the 15 scoring shots, each shooter will fire one standing off-hand shot at the orange paster.
This shot will be used only as a tie-breaker if needed.
Equipment
Binoculars and spotting scopes are permitted for shooters to observe their target impacts.
No artificial rests, bipods, bags, slings used as supports, or other shooting aids are allowed unless approved under the disability accommodations listed below.
Time Limit
Time limit: To be determined by the club.
Disability Accommodations
Shooters unable to assume the prone position may fire from the sitting or kneeling position.
Shooters unable to sit or kneel may fire from the standing position.
Only in cases of significant physical disability may the Match Director authorize the use of an artificial support, such as cross sticks or another approved shooting aid.
Scoring
Hit within a marked kill zone (heart, lungs, or liver): +5 points
Hit on the deer silhouette outside the kill zone: –3 points
Missed shot: 0 points
Highest total score wins.
Awards
Prizes and awards will be determined by the club.
Example Score Calculation
10 kill-zone hits = 50 points
3 deer hits outside the kill zone = –9 points
2 misses = 0 points
Final Score: 41 points (50 − 9 = 41)
