Always Take Action - Developing the "Yes I can Attitude"

Since the first class was taught many years ago, the focus of our program has remained the same: to provide students the highest quality martial arts instruction available in a safe and positive learning environment that people of all ages can enjoy. Chief Instructor
Sr. Master Robert Landrum is the Chief

Instructor of ATA Martial Arts. He is a 7th Degree Black Belt and has been teaching Taekwondo in the Andover/North Andover area since 1993. He is the 2006, 2011, 2014, and the 2016 World Champion in sparring and serves as a regional adviser for the ATA in New England. Program Director
Kayla McCluskey is the Program Director for ATA Martial Arts. ATA Tigers (ages 3-5)
Our program will encourage students in a positive environment where they will learn how to listen, pay attention and show respect all while learning the basics of Taekwondo. Our fun-filled 30 minute classes will teach children essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect and discipline. As the child moves up in rank, they will learn more of these life skills as well as developing their motor skills, as in addition to learning how to pay attention and follow directions. Karate for Kids (ages 6-11)
In our Karate for Kids program, we use our motto of "Every kid is a winner, every kid is special" as the cornerstone to teach our students. Students will learn valuable life-skills such as self-confidence, perseverance and courage while learning Taekwondo. Teens and Adults (ages 12+)
In our Teen/Adult program, our high-energy classes will improve your fitness while developing life skills such as leadership and self-control while learning Taekwondo forms, sparring and self-defense.

Name a moment when you stepped up.

For one of our members this month, it was the senior belt who slowed down to walk a brand-new white belt through their first warm-up β€” without being asked.

Leadership doesn't always look loud. Sometimes it looks like noticing.

We get one shot to make a child feel like they belong somewhere ❀️

Sr. Master Landrum takes that seriously.

Thanks to the families who've trusted us with that, year after year.

Tell us about a friend your kid's made on the mat.

For one of our families this month, it's the boy who lights up when he sees his training partner walk in. They go to different schools β€” but the mat brought them together.

Those friendships matter more than you think.

The kids don't always notice how much they've changed.

The parents do.

We just get to watch it happen up close. Lucky us.

Thanks to every family at ATA Martial Arts πŸ™

After dinner he asked to come in early so he could practise his kicks for his next belt πŸ”₯

A year ago we couldn't get him to put his uniform on without a fight.

Same boy. More focus. More fight in him. More determination.

We don't just put this on a poster.

Every class trains the muscle behind it β€” choosing the harder thing, one rep at a time.

That's how you walk out of here a different version of yourself than the one who walked in.

Three things you can do this week to help your child focus better at home.

One. Eye contact when you're giving instructions. Wait until they look at you before you speak.

Two. One task at a time. No "go brush your teeth and feed the dog and grab your shoes." Pick one. Finish. Then the next.

Three. Praise the effort, not the outcome. "You stayed with it" lands harder than "good job."

We use all three at ATA Martial Arts. They work.
