Always Take Action - Developing the "Yes I can Attitude"

Since the first class was taught many years ago, the focus of our program has remained the same: to provide students the highest quality martial arts instruction available in a safe and positive learning environment that people of all ages can enjoy. Chief Instructor
Sr. Master Robert Landrum is the Chief Instructor of ATA Martial Arts. He is a 7th Degree Black Belt and has been teaching Taekwondo in the Andover/North Andover area since 1993. He is the 2006, 2011, 2014, and the 2016 World Champion in sparring and serves as a regional adviser for the ATA in New England. Program Director
Kayla McCluskey is the Program Director for ATA Martial Arts. ATA Tigers (ages 3-5)
Our program will encourage students in a positive environment where they will learn how to listen, pay attention and show respect all while learning the basics of Taekwondo. Our fun-filled 30 minute classes will teach children essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect and discipline. As the child moves up in rank, they will learn more of these life skills as well as developing their motor skills, as in addition to learning how to pay attention and follow directions. Karate for Kids (ages 6-11)
In our Karate for Kids program, we use our motto of "Every kid is a winner, every kid is special" as the cornerstone to teach our students. Students will learn valuable life-skills such as self-confidence, perseverance and courage while learning Taekwondo. Teens and Adults (ages 12+)
In our Teen/Adult program, our high-energy classes will improve your fitness while developing life skills such as leadership and self-control while learning Taekwondo forms, sparring and self-defense.

Save this one.

Staying calm under pressure isn't just a mat skill β€” it's a life one. Three basics every child should know before they need them.

1. How to call for help and give their address.
2. How to apply pressure to a cut and stay put until help arrives.
3. How to take one slow breath before reacting to a scary moment.

Nobody taught them to help the newer students tie their belts. They just started. 🌟

That's not a class we teach. That's what happens when a child feels capable enough to lead.

A training partner who notices when you're quiet is worth more than you'd think.

Today's a good day to check on one of yours β€” on the mat or off it.

Watching a nervous student raise their hand for the first time, or a shy kid walk in without a parent trailing behind β€” those moments add up more than any trophy does.

Thank you for trusting us with your child.

Happy Labor Day.

Every rep, every drill, every rank you've earned β€” none of it happened by accident.

Save this one for the next person watching how you work.

A bow means something here.

A hand up to help a partner off the mat, a "yes ma'am" that isn't forced β€” nobody has to remind them anymore.

It just becomes who they are.

Heard that kick four times before this one finally landed. πŸ’ͺ

Nobody told them to keep going. They just did.

That's the part that carries over.

There's a moment in every belt test where a kid looks like they might not make it β€” and then they do.

We don't get tired of watching that.

Thank you for trusting us with your kid. It's the reason we love this job. πŸ™
