A pretty interesting note about Tai Chi
Today, let’s learn an interesting Chinese idiom 打太极(Da Tai Ji)
Many of you might've heard of this internal Chinese martial art or even benefited physically and mentally from practicing it regularly, but, did you know that 打太极(Da Tai Ji), can mean "passing the buck" if used as an idiom?
If you give a little thought, it makes sense, right? Because, Tai Chi is all about yielding and sticking to an incoming attack rather than attempting to meet it with opposing force. When applied under some social circumstances, the tactic can be interpreted as shifting responsibilities to the other party.
Although it could be a little bit negative sometimes, it actually aligns with many Chinese philosophical principles, including those of Taoism and Confucianism.
So, next time, if you see someone practicing 打太极(Da Tai Ji) in a smart way, you can praise him/her as the 太极高手(Tai Ji Gao Shou) - the master of Tai Chi 😀
