Member Highlight - Meet Jaren
Jaren trains for one reason: self-improvement. He has no desire to compete or step on a bodybuilding stage—he simply enjoys pushing himself harder with every lift and seeing just how strong he can become naturally.
The biggest catalyst in his growth has been consistency. Showing up on the days he feels motivated is easy, but showing up on the days he doesn’t want to train has made all the difference. Over time, those small decisions have added up to big results.
One lesson Jaren wishes he knew when he first started is that patience and persistence are everything. Progress takes time. The PR will come. The weight will come off. The key is continuing to show up and put in the work. He also believes one of the biggest mistakes people make is comparing themselves to others. Instead, the goal should be simple: be better than you were yesterday.
Southside has helped fuel that mindset. No matter what time of day he trains, there’s always someone in the gym pushing themselves to improve. Seeing that level of dedication motivates him to work harder. While many gyms have become more social than serious, Jaren appreciates that Southside still carries that old-school bodybuilding and powerlifting atmosphere where hard work comes first.
One accomplishment he’s especially proud of is surpassing a 1,200-pound total in the squat, bench, and deadlift. It took years of dedication to reach that milestone, and now he’s setting his sights even higher—working toward a 1,500-pound total.
For Jaren, the goal has never been to compete with anyone else. It’s about chasing his own potential, one lift at a time.
We’re proud of you, Jaren. Keep pushing!
