Trail update 5/1/2026: The conditions in the washed out section between McHugh and Rainbow are still not ideal. The race will be an out and back from the Potter trail head to the McHugh trail head and back to Potter. The map below shows the loop and direction of the races as it makes the turnaround at McHugh - it runs counter clockwise through the upper and middle parking lots before heading back to Potter.

Get ready!! This year's TATR will be on May 7th and registration will open on April 7th (link to the registration will be published soon). Trail update: The conditions in the washed out section between McHugh and Rainbow are still not ideal. We will evaluate the conditions closer to the race date and either run the race through the problematic section, if it is safe, or run it similar to last year (out and back between Potter and McHugh). Stay tuned for the registration link and updates. We look forward to seeing everyone again in May!

Notice to all TATR Participants: due to the dangerous trail conditions between McHugh and Rainbow (washed out about 0.6 mile in, new trail could not be established to safely let 200 runners through the section), we made the decision to change the route of this year's race. The 8-mile race will start and finish at Potter (with a small loop in the McHugh parking lot - see picture), and the 4-mile race will start at McHugh and finish at Potter. Thank you for your understanding! Bib pick-up will be at your corresponding starts and also on May 7th between 4 and 6 pm at the Alaska Airlines Center Coaches' Suite. See you all next week! ☺️

Don't forget: registration for the TATR starts tomorrow at 9 am until we fill up the 200 spots. And an important update about the trail conditions: parts of the section between McHugh and Rainbow washed out this winter. Chugach Park services is aware and will work on re-establishing the trail, but the trail in that area might be more challenging than in a regular year. We will keep you posted if we hear of any more updates. Click here to sign up:
