If your pitcher isn’t getting spin, speed, or that ā€œpopā€ off the hand… she’s probably pushing the ball.

Here are 3 reasons why šŸ‘‡

1. The ball is leaving the palm, not the fingers

We should feel the ball ROLL off the fingertips first then snap— not get shoved out of the hand.

2. No true wrist snap

If the wrist isn’t whipping through or finishing into your body, you lose spin and everything comes out flat.

3. She’s trying to guide the pitch

The second pitchers try to be perfect, they slow down and start placing the ball instead of letting it go.

So we stripped it all the way back to feel.

Got her on the ground, took the body out of it, and focused on one thing:

šŸ‘‰ fingers → snap → rollover

Using a heavy + light ball so she can actually feel the difference.

Because telling someone to ā€œjust snap itā€ isn’t enough…
they have to experience it!

If your pitcher is struggling with accuracy, timing, or snap… don’t overcomplicate it!

Start here šŸ‘‡

When you watch your pitcher (best from the side), check these 3 things:

1. UNRAVEL (arm whip)
Are we staying loose with a bent elbow and letting the arm fully whip and snap through?

2. SEQUENCING (what happens at landing)
When the front foot lands, are we driving through and letting the hips lead?

3. RESISTANCE (front side)
Are we holding strong on the front side… or collapsing and falling forward?

These 3 things all connect.
If one is off, everything starts to feel off.

You don’t need to guess — just watch and identify what’s breaking down.

šŸ‘‰ Comment what you see:
UNRAVEL | SEQUENCING | RESISTANCE

and I’ll help guide you on what to work on šŸ‘€

I see this all the time…

Pitchers trying to throw harder,
but their front side is collapsing.

You don’t need more effort —
you need to learn how to absorb and hold.

This is one of the biggest separators when it comes to power and consistency.

When we land, the front leg should:
• stabilize
• absorb force
• redirect energy up the body
• allow the trunk to rotate and whip naturally

If your pitcher:
• collapses
• opens early
• or falls forward after release

this is usually why.

Front side resistance is about controlled absorption and redirecting energy so we can actually use the ground. āœ…

That’s why we slowed it down, went barefoot to feel the ground, and elevated the front leg to really dial in the position!

This pitcher was trying to focus on PULLING her front hip into her body as her back side rotated forward šŸ”„

Try this and see what you feel!! šŸ˜

If your pitcher is being told to ā€œslow down to throw more strikesā€ in games…

it’s actually doing more harm than good.

What usually happens when they slow down:
• they lose their snap
• their timing gets off
• they can’t find their release point

So now they’re not only throwing slower… they’re also less consistent.

If you have a pitcher who:
• goes hard in practice
• but gets careful in games
• and struggles to carry that over

she needs to practice going hard under control.

That’s why we brought the target in close and had her throw 100%, then slowly moved it back.

Same motion. Same intent.

That’s what transfers to games!

šŸ‘‰ Stop training them to slow down — train them to trust their motion.

And coaches, be careful on what you’re telling a pitcheršŸ˜…
