2 Soldiers held their position for 165 days

Oleksandr Tishayev and Oleksandr Alikseyenko held their observation position in the Orikhiv direction for 165 days.

UA soldiers from the 138th Separate Battalion of the 115th Territorial Defense Brigade held continuous defense of their position in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Over 30 attempts were made to relieve them, but due to constant shelling and drone attacks it was not possible. Only at the end of October, thanks to thick fog, was this achieved.

They are being awarded medals for their nearly half-year of continuous defense.

My post went mini-viral yesterday, so I want to discuss my lifetime warranty.

Years ago, I worked at Cannae Pro Gear, not in leadership, but as the l employee handling everything. At that time, I promised a “lifetime warranty.” The company shut down, and I started my own. Some customers, aware of my history, ask about warrantying old gear, I have no real obligation to, I’m a completely separate entity.

Still, I said “lifetime warranty,” and people trusted my commitment to quality, some with their lives. Now in charge of my own thing, I feel a moral duty to honor that promise for gear in both ventures for as long as I am able.

When I say “brøther,” I mean it. Your trust in my kit is an honor I take seriously.

“We had been set up on a hill. When we left a position we buried all of our garbage and filled in all of the fighting positions from the night before. In the morning we went out to run patrols, all of us. I was walking point, as usual. We were staying off of the paths to avoid b***y traps.

I carried a machete and was cutting my way thru vines and brush. Not very quiet, but safer. By afternoon I was exhausted. My platoon leader replaced me at point with another Marine. We ended up heading back to our position from the night before.

As we walked back up the hill we were ambushed by the NVA who had set up a perimeter on our old position. The guy who replaced me at point walked into a blast from a Chinese claymore mine. It blew his head and both arms off. His flak jacket protected his torso but that was useless at that point.

The NVA fired at us for a bit and retreated back into the jungle. We cleared the hill and called in medevac helicopters. Another Marine and I had to roll our point man up in a poncho and carry him up the hill where he was eventually evacuated by helicopter. I knew him and remember what he looked like but his name is erased from my mind.

That experience has haunted me for 50 years. Why him and not me? Why am I alive and he was blown to pieces in my place. I honestly believe that God spared me for some reason that I am not aware of. Since then, I've tried to be a good person to repay the favor.”
