At first I didn’t want to share this, part of me still doesn’t. I feel like my performance has been bad.

My experiences these past couple years have been rough. The transition from an active duty Marine to civilian has been hard on me. I miss the stability and discipline. I miss the upfront ness and bluntness of it all. I started school full time and struggled to find a place, a rhythm, I struggled socially and academically. My mental health was up and down. My workouts were inconsistent. Then COVID hit, everything closed, and my life changed again with the world. I continued to spiral downhill. Trying to grow my business, go to school, coach, take care of the kids, and maintain my own mental health. It hasn’t been easy. Looking back I wouldn’t even say it was a success. However, I am continuing to move forward, continuing to progress. I will keep pushing forward and keep fighting for a better me. So, when I look at these scores and see I jumped 20% from last years open to this year. I see improvement, I see growth. Am I where I want to be? By no means! But the journey is just getting good. Semper Fi!

When society is starting to question, is COVID-19 real?

Of course it is, just like numerous other real and dangerous diseases. My mother and father both contracted COVID-19 when it first came to the USA. We hadn’t even gone into lockdown. My mother said it was like a regular cold for her but for my father it was much worse. He ended up in the hospital with pneumonia for over 2 weeks. He was finally sent home, only to end up back in the hospital with blood clots from the medication they gave for pneumonia. Many days later he was discharged to in home care. I’m thankful to say both my mother and father are well and healthy. Why do I share this story you ask?

My father just turned 80 December 4th, he is a strict vegan, has no sugar, and eats almost all raw foods. Although my parents don’t go to a CrossFit gym they are constantly exercising in their daily life. It has become a lifestyle of health and fitness that has built strong immune systems for them both.

We all have a choice. We can choose to live healthy, to exercise and to follow a well balanced lifestyle or to give into our poor lifestyle choices. What choice will you make?
