It has been a great first few days of the Connecticut season and as I’m writing this post I’m sitting in the dark in Maine waiting for birds to fire off! Season Recap so far:

Day 1: Matt and I got beat to our #1 target state land spot by someone out of state. We got there at 3:03am so I believe the other individual slept there. Good for you for grinding. We went to another state land spot on the list and Matt smoked a gorgeous Tom early. We just so happened to drive back over to that #1 spot and the truck was gone. So, we went in there and I tagged a nice state land bird around 9am. Fast forward to that afternoon and I get another nice bird on private around 4pm.

Day 2: We got destroyed by the turkeys
Day 3: We got destroyed by the turkeys
Day 4: We got destroyed by the turkeys

Day 5: I slipped out to a piece of private for a quick hunt before I had a 10am medical procedure. It worked out perfect and I s**t second 5:40am. Big ole Tom!

I am looking for some insight/advice on skis. I have been enjoying my Salomon QST Spark Freestyle/All Mountain Skis but I want something better for the glades and powder(even though powder days on the east coast are rare). Last weekend Declan and I ran two of the front 4 at Stowe(Liftline/National) and the weekend prior to that he drug me down a few single and double diamond glades. I would like to find a ski that can handle that type of skiing but also work for some touring. I guess my first question is, is that even possible? The other issue that I face is that I like to have product loyalty, meaning I need a Salomon brand ski. I was considering either the QST Blank 178cm or the MTN 96 Carbon 174cm. I was looking to pair them with the MTN Summit leashed bindings and MTN Summit Pro Touring Boot. If you are going to provide some insight remember I am primarily an east coast skiing so thin icy conditions needs to play a role in the decision. Salomon

Decided to go for a Christmas Morning run after the kids finished opening their gifts. 6 miles with sub 9:30 miles was my goal. Average pace was 9:04!! Not sure drinking 4 cups of coffee and no water before the run was smart but I achieved my goal! Just out here trying to Own My Dash!

My goal was to hit the summit for sunrise, missed it by 15mins. No complaints though since I cut 2hrs off my time from last year.
