Winter is over in Amesbury.

We’ll be changing over to the winter layout over the course of the day, while playing a pair of unusual layouts on the course. The turnout is not expected to slow down other players, but you might notice things slightly out of place between 10-2, like baskets missing. If you’re looking for a full round on the winter layout, you can expect it to be in play no later than 2:30 today! Thanks

So as to not bury the lead, here are three simple etiquette rules to follow at Amesbury Town Park and in life:

**NEVER THROW DISCS IN THE DIRECTION OF OTHER PARK USERS**
**AMESBURY PINES IS A PUBLIC PARK FIRST**
**BE RESPECTFUL**

I received an email last night from an Amesbury Pines disc golfer to let me know that a pair of players had thrown on hole 1 while his wife and kids were walking in the fairway. She was hit in the ribs. They simply walked away, no check-in or apology, which is obviously the least they could have done.

It's tough to write posts like this because I genuinely believe that anyone who sees these posts are not the kind of people who would not throw toward other park users in the first place, and if an accident were to happen (as they can and do!) they would be quick to apologize and make sure whoever was struck is ok and offer assistance as needed.

It is sad, but because this did happen, it's a good time to remind everyone that Amesbury Pines is located at a public park. The discs we play with fly fast and can cause real damage to people. I've seen it first hand. In the hands of players who are learning flight and control, discs become dangerous. If you're too shy to approach people and explain the game, just skip the hole if other users are anywhere near your path to the basket. Go play Clement Farm, which has fewer pedestrians. This course has a small footprint, so there are potentially unsafe locations all over the place. Be mindful and aware, and be respectful.

Thanks,
Frankie

Hello Amesbury disc golfers, new and experienced. I just wanted to offer a friendly reminder that we should always respect Town Park equipment, neighbors, and other park users. To be clear, this means not throwing towards crowded fairways, letting smaller groups and faster players play through (even when the course is busy!), and not hopping fences to retrieve discs - knock on the door instead. Let's be good humans and represent the sport and course well.

Disc golf has seen an explosion in popularity the past year. Spring has arrived and people are out in droves to play and to just enjoy public properties. We want to remind disc golfers to have respect for and yield to other park users ALWAYS. Discs can and have caused injury before, and those injuries are avoidable when proper etiquette is used.

We learned of a recent incident that resulted in a complaint being filed with police due to disc golfers not respecting other park users at Amesbury Town Park. Please, for the good of our home course and for all public community disc golf courses, always yield to and respect people at town parks. From time to time that might mean skipping a hole and trying to play it at the end.

Amesbury Town Park is for everyone!

Thanks
