Open Cross Bar A nonprofit working to open the Cross Bar SRMA. Through grants and public/private donations. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

Cross Bar Management Area is a 12,000 acre hidden gem North of Amarillo Texas. Cross Bar was designated as a Special Recreation Management Area in 2020. The Cross Bar offers hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and hunting opportunities. Public access by permit only which requires traversing the Canadian River. Please contact the local BLM office for permits or additional information. Outdoo

We’re in the Final Mile.

Years of planning, partnerships, engineering, and community support have brought us to this point. Now, we’re working to raise the final $1.8 million needed to complete the local match for the Cross Bar SRMA Access Road.

This is more than a road. It’s the path to safe, permanent public access to Texas’ only BLM-managed public land—and an investment in recreation, conservation, education, and opportunity for generations to come.

Our website has been updated with the latest project information, fundraising goal, and a new countdown to our March 1, 2027 funding deadline.
