We want to give a very special shoutout and heartfelt THANK YOU to Krissie Nabors, grandmother of two of our awesome Little Ninjas, Cooper and Rosie!

Last week, Krissie generously donated several fans and a portable air conditioner to our dojo to help keep our students, families, and instructors cooler and more comfortable during training. 🙏❄️

Anyone who has trained hard on the mats knows how quickly a dojo can heat up—especially during those Texas days! These fans and the portable AC will help improve airflow, make the training environment more comfortable, and give everyone a better place to cool down between rounds and classes.

But more than the equipment itself, gestures like this remind us what makes HKMA special.

We aren't just a martial arts academy. We're a community. We're a team. We're a family.

When our families see a need and step up to help—not because they have to, but because they care—it means more to us than we can adequately put into words.

🥋 HYBRID KOMBAT KENPO BELT TESTING — EARNED, NOT GIVEN! 🥊

Yesterday was a big day at Hybrid Kombat Martial Arts as our Little Ninjas, Kids & Youth, and Adult students stepped onto the mats to test for their next Hybrid Kombat Kenpo belts!

At Hybrid Kombat, a belt represents more than learning techniques. It represents discipline, perseverance, courage, growth, and the willingness to keep going when you're tired.

🐉 Our Little Ninjas started their testing with 3 rounds of grappling, putting their skills, determination, and toughness to the test.

🥊 Our Kids & Youth and Adult students began with 3 rounds of kickboxing sparring, demonstrating their ability to stay composed, apply their training, and continue working under pressure.

But that was only the beginning.

After their rounds, each group had to demonstrate the techniques and skills required from their Hybrid Kombat Kenpo curriculum, showing their instructors that they were prepared to take the next step in their martial arts journey.

We finished the night with our belt testing and promotion ceremony, recognizing those who successfully earned their new rank. 🥋

We could not be more proud of everyone who stepped onto the mats and tested. Every new belt represents the hours of training, mistakes, corrections, sweat, frustration, improvement, and determination that came before it.

To everyone who ranked up — CONGRATULATIONS! You earned it. 👊

And remember: the belt isn't the finish line. It's a reminder that you're ready for the next challenge.

Our Hybrid Kombat Martial Arts Little Ninjas Program currently has openings for children ages 3–5!

Little Ninjas is designed specifically for preschool-aged children, introducing them to martial arts in a fun, positive, structured environment while helping them develop skills that carry over into school, sports, and everyday life.

🥋 What do our Little Ninjas learn?

Through age-appropriate martial arts training, games, drills, and activities, we work on:

⭐ Focus & Listening Skills — Learning to pay attention, follow directions, and stay engaged.

⭐ Discipline & Self-Control — Understanding when it's time to have fun and when it's time to listen and learn.

⭐ Confidence — Helping children become more comfortable trying new things and believing in themselves.
