Few people know The Wagon's story and this page is set up to tell it. Many people recognize this ol family wagon, but not many people know its story. This 1965 Chevy II station wagon was originally owned by my grandpa, Manuel Pacheco Sr, and he used it as the family car. I never had the privilege of meeting him, but I hear he was pretty great. After he passed away my Uncle Manuel took it over. was
the first to actually race the wagon, but that was short-lived as he soon passed it down to his little brother and my Dad, George Pacheco, Sr. who turned it into the head turner you see today. Dad raced this ol wagon for many years. We've been from Texas to California, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and many places in between. In 2016 we finished building dad's new Chevelle and it was my turn to drive the wagon. Since that time, countless people have approached me with stories about this car. In the summer of 2021, a fellow racer and friend asked, "you realize this car has been racing at the Amarillo Dragway since the early to mid-70s?" I did not. From that question I began digging into the past and came up with the idea for this page. I'm sharing what I find here, but more importantly, I'm inviting anyone with pictures or stories about this wagon to share them as well. Many people know Dad and Uncle Jr, so please share the page with your friends and their friends. I'd really love to document as much of this Ol Wagon's 40+ years of racing as possible.
