The Ed Latta Memorial Golf Tournament is held every Memorial Day and Labor Day. Family and friends are always invited to play.

⛳️ It’s almost tournament time!

Make plans to play in the Labor Day 2026 edition of the Ed Latta Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, September 7. Please plan to be at The Whip (formerly Whippoorwill) by 6:30AM, so we can start between 6:45 and 7:00.

Please help us get a head start on putting teams together! Share this with your family members who golf, and if you’re planning to play, let us know ahead of time. Knowing who’s coming will help us get the teams set and get everybody on the course a little earlier!

What a wonderful day for the Memorial Day 2026 edition of the Ed Latta Memorial Golf Tournament! ⛳🇺🇸

We were thrilled to welcome a record turnout of 48 golfers for this year’s tournament. The overcast skies kept temperatures comfortable throughout the morning and, except for a few sprinkles, the rain held off until just as we were wrapping up the day.

One of the most meaningful moments came before the awards ceremony began when Jimmy led everyone in a moment of silence in memory of Odis Williams, the original owner of the golf course. Odis helped our family launch this tournament over 30 years ago and was always incredibly kind and generous to the event and its participants. His presence and support will certainly be missed.

Steve also reminded everyone of the true meaning of Memorial Day and encouraged us to remember and honor those who “gave their yesterdays for our tomorrows.”

Congratulations to our first and second place teams, whose photos are included below, and thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, and supported the tournament!

And don’t miss the “then and now” photos of the Dixon Boys and the Graul Boys near the end of the album — a fun reminder of how long this tournament tradition has been bringing families and friends together. 💙

As we gather for today’s Ed Latta Memorial Golf Tournament, we pause to remember Odis Williams, whose friendship and support helped make this event possible for more than 30 years. Since 1994, this golf course has been the home of our tournament, and we are deeply grateful for the kindness, hospitality, and legacy he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Odis Williams, the longtime owner of Whippoorwill Golf Course.

Our family’s connection to Whippoorwill goes back more than 30 years. When Daddy hosted the very first tournament there in 1994, it was Mr. Odis who welcomed the idea with open arms. In fact, when Daddy suggested the course should host a tournament, Mr. Odis simply said, “Why don’t you have one?” — and a tradition was born.

That tournament became the Latta Invitational and, after Daddy’s passing in 2018, the Ed Latta Memorial Golf Tournament. Today, we still gather at Whippoorwill (now known as "The Whip") every Memorial Day and Labor Day, continuing something that means so much to our family.

We are so grateful to Mr. Odis for believing in that first tournament and for supporting it through the years. But even more than that, we will always remember his kindness.

One of the moments our family treasures most is when he came to visit Daddy in his final days and prayed with him. That meant more than words can express.

Mr. Odis leaves behind a legacy not only in the game of golf but in the lives he touched.

We’re thankful to have been one of them. ❤️🙏🏻

⛳️ Ed Latta Memorial Golf Tournament – Labor Day 2025 ⛳️

This past Monday, golfers gathered at The Whip (formerly Whippoorwill Golf Course) for the Ed Latta Memorial Golf Tournament.

Daddy started this tournament in 1993, soon after the course opened. It was the very first tournament ever held at Whippoorwill, and we’re proud to continue it in his memory twice a year—on Memorial Day and Labor Day.

What began more than 30 years ago as the first tournament at a brand-new course has grown into a lasting tradition of golf, fellowship, and family. ❤️

What a great day at The Whip for the Memorial Day edition of the Ed Latta Memorial Golf Tournament! 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

Congratulations to our winning team: Tommy Latta, Dennis Lindsey, Delane Moon, and Justen Graul! 🏆

Since 1994, this tournament has brought together family and friends each Memorial Day and Labor Day—and yesterday was no exception. Ed loved this tradition, and it’s always a special time to remember him and enjoy the fellowship he valued so much. 💚

Many thanks to The Whip for their hospitality: they provided BBQ for the crowd and also golf balls for the winning team. We appreciate them so much!

Thanks to everyone who joined us to keep the legacy going strong!
