Located in Altoona, Pa., the goal of the Mustangs is to attract the best players from the Greater Altoona area and surrounding areas including, but not limited to, Johnstown, State College and Indiana to compete in pre/post season competition. The Mustangs program has been built on a foundation of individual and team goals. As a team, the ultimate goal of the Mustangs is to instill in its players
the concept that the “whole” is more important than any of its “individual” components. Players are taught to sacrifice for the betterment of the team and strive to always put the team ahead of any individual goals or accomplishments. When focusing on the individual player, the Mustangs program focuses on improving the player in all aspects of the game including on-ice skill development, off-ice training concepts and proper nutrition. Furthermore, the program also strides to produce outstanding young men who perform well in the class room as well as become valued members of the community. Through these team based and individual based concepts, it is a goal of the Mustangs program to help advance players within the sport to higher levels of hockey such as prep school, junior or college hockey. While the Mustangs have produced teams that have won a number of championships at the State and National level, it recognizes that winning is a result of, and must not be achieved in spite of proper player development. To accomplish the goals of the Mustang program, the Mid-State Mustangs look to offer the very best players from our region the opportunity to play together on a higher level team. This environment affords these players to compete at a high level thus pushing the player to elevate and improve their game. Although the Mustangs strive to afford these opportunities to the better players in our region, the idea is to offer additional opportunities to players in our region without attempting to recruit players away from neighboring organizations completely.
