Freedom Autosport has been campaigning the Mazda MX-5 in the ST class of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series since 2008. Nowhere is Freedom’s prowess more apparent than at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, where they have won for five consecutive years, giving Mazda a stunning record at their namesake track. In 2014 alone, Freedom Autosport earned three wins, a second, and three third-pl
ace finishes. That season marked a milestone for the team, as (Retired) Marine Staff Sgt. Liam Dwyer climbed behind the wheel for three rounds. It was the first time that a U.S. military veteran had driven for Freedom Autosport. Liam’s service and his skill as a competitive driver made him an obvious choice: the team is named in honor of the men and women of the U.S. military who defend our freedom. Freedom Autosport is also a longtime supporter of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. Since its inception in 2008, Freedom Autosport has achieved more than just a long list of top finishes. The team has also propelled aspiring young drivers into successful professional careers, honed the MX-5’s formidable abilities, and provided opportunities for military members to get a unique behind-the-scenes experience at racetracks across the United States.
