Alton Marquette’s 100th season of football Week 2 has them hosting Red Bud tomorrow for a 12:00 kickoff. Both teams are 1-0 on the season after defeating Dupo and Pickneyville , respectively. The game will be live on Riverbender.com and WBGZ 1570 AM/107.1FM. On Explorers!

Join us tonight at the Marquette Homecoming Block Party for the IHSA Football Playoff Pairing Watch Party. The Party starts at 7 with live music, alton friend tacos, and drinks. Playoff Watch Show starts at 8.

At 5-4 the Explorers have a better than average chance of earning an at-large birth, which would be the school’s 26th in program history and our first since 2019.

Students are not able to attend the Block Party but the show will be on in The Commons for those attending the Homecoming Dance.

It’s Week 9 - the final regular season weekend for Illinois High School football. Marquette Catholic vs Roxana kicks off tonight at home! Both teams enter the game at 5-3 on the season, with the winner earning an automatic bid to the IHSA Playoffs. Ⓜ️🏟️🏈

Congratulations Jack!

Congratulations to senior Jack Beaber and freshman Maggie Pruetzel, the Marquette Catholic Athletes of the Month, presented by The Loading Dock.

Beaber was selected for his accomplishments on the Explorers football team. A Captain and two-way starter who has helped the Explorers to a 5-3 record, Beaber has established himself as one of the leading defensive players in the region. He leads the Explorers in solo tackles, tackles for a loss, and quarterback sacks, in addition to being a standout offensive lineman. He has been a member of the football team for four years, in addition to finishing 4th at the IHSA State Track finals as a thrower. Jack is the son of Michael and Allyson Beaber of Alton.

Pruetzel was selected based on her accomplishments on the Explorers Golf team, including her individual qualification for the recent IHSA State Finals. Maggie qualified for State by firing a 5 over 77 in the Jacksonville Sectional, where she finished third. Pruetzel won several individual matches this year, including earning medalist honors as the top freshman at the Gary Bair Invitational. Maggie is the daughter of Randy and Amy Pruetzel of Alton.
