Kajukenbo is a unique martial art style combining the techniques of KA-Karate, JU-Jujitsu/Judo, KEN-Kenpo, and BO-Boxing (Chinese Boxing/Kung Fu). From these words, the Kajukenbo motto is: "Martial Arts without philosophy is nothing more than street fighting." Kajukenbo Escrima We teach street fighting self-defense, also tournament fighting and forms for adults and children. We teach the old hard style of fighting to be sure you will protect yourself in a street fight.

One more graduation in the books. ♣
A day full of emotion, new belts, new goals, and special moments. So proud of every Our student who stepped on the mat today.
There are moments in this journey that hit deeper than winning a match or standing on a podium. Today was one of those moments.
Receiving the Kapatiran Serrada Escrima Diploma Advance Degree.
from GM David Ducay is something I’ll carry with me forever. Not just because of what it represents on the surface, but because of everything behind it the years, the sacrifices, the doubts, the consistency, and the people who shaped me along the way.
GM David Ducay isn’t just someone I look up to in KaJuKenBo Escrima. He’s a mentor, someone whose knowledge, discipline, and example have had a real impact on how I see the art and how I live Escrima life. To be recognized by him like this means more than I can put into words.
This Diploma Advance Degree. isn’t a sign that I’ve “made it.” If anything, it’s a reminder of how much more there is to learn, how much sharper I need to be, and how much I still want to grow.
And to anyone out there thinking about quitting, taking a break, or questioning if it’s worth it this is your sign to keep going.
Progress in KaJuKenBo Escrima isn’t always visible. Most of the time, it’s quiet. It’s showing up when you don’t feel like it. It’s losing, learning, and coming back again. It’s trusting that one day, all those small, invisible steps will turn into something meaningful.
I promise you they will.
Just don’t stop.

The legacy continues. ♣

ESKRIMA/Spanish ESGRIMA

𝟏𝟖𝟖𝟒: “𝙚𝙨𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙖” was listed among the 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 used to communicate with the 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬 of the 𝙀𝙟𝙚́𝙧𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙨.

In the 𝘝𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘳 𝘺 𝘎𝘶í𝘢 𝘥𝘦 𝘭𝘢 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘰́𝘯 𝘌𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘯̃𝘰𝘭 – 𝘛𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘨 – 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢 [Spanish - Tagalog - Visaya Military Vocabulary and Conversation Guide], by the Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry Don Eusebio Salva, we read:

🇪🇸 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡: "Esgrima." (Fencing)

🇵🇭 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠: "Pag-aaral nang panagá."

[🇬🇧 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡: "Study of how to cut with a sword."]*

🇵🇭 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚: "Pagtuun sa pagbunó."

[🇬🇧 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡: "Teaching or learning to kill."]*

The above translations were included in the section of the dictionary titled “𝘕𝘰𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘔𝘢𝘴 𝘜𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢” [Most Usual Terms in the Militia].

Noteworthy, in the “𝘥𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢” [dedication] page, Don Eusebio Salva underlines the difficulties in educating the soldiers and the lack, previously, of such a work in the academies.

Ultimately, this text proves 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 by Filipino soldiers belonging to the various units of the Spanish colonial army in the second half of 19ᵗʰ century.
