Yesterday (Saturday the 15th) was a beautiful, though chilly, morning to get my first breakfast run in 72740 in. A 6:30am departure had me on my way (grateful for the preheat kit installed on this one...) for the nearly two-hour flight over to Sky Acres (44N) airport in New York to meet up with several pilot friends for breakfast at Hangar's Cafe on the airport. This is a great, and fairly popular, fly-in restaurant and the pattern was busy on arrival.

The usual great conversation and stories swapped at breakfast and we were heading back out, going our separate ways back to our various airports. I hung around for a few minutes as another friend was coming in with his son in his Cessna 170 - too late for breakfast with us, but still got up and out for a flight on this clear and calm day.

After a quick chat with Pete, I saddled up and headed out. Not wanting to waste the great weather, I decided to hit a couple of other airports on the way home. My first stop was at Mt. Tobe Airfield (N41) in Plymouth, CT for a photo in front of the hangar there. My buddy Nick (who had been at the breakfast as well) also popped in for a quick photo, and then we headed back out. Nick headed home and I headed on to Goodspeed Airport (42B) for a photo of the 140 in front of the cool little terminal building there as well. From there, I headed back to Taunton to cap off a great day of flying. Loving this 140!

Time for some vintage tailwheel fun!

It's been a while since my last post - again. Had a better (though not really better for me) reason for the gap this time. I lost the engine in N2549P back in August, just days after that last post. It had a stuck val...

Last weekend saw a great trip up to Bowman Field (B10) in Livermore Falls, Maine for their 23rd annual fly-in/campout. Was a beautiful flight up on a nice clear morning and saw a good turnout. A few of us camped out and little did I know that the return flight home on Sunday would be my last in 49P as the engine was damaged by a stuck valve (luckily on the ground) a couple days later. Will be selling it and starting a new adventure in a new to me (but still vintage!) airplane. A taildragger this time - so stay tuned.

Post from the Past! Been a while since I posted - sorry about that. New post up on the blog from my May trip to Scotland, where I had the bucket list opportunity to fly down the Great Glen and visit Glen Forsa.

Beautiful morning to pop up to Alton Bay (B18) today. Silky smooth air, some cool aircraft to see, and a great lunch at Pub 23. Been a good year for Alton Bay - a nice change from that couple of warmer winters.

Been a good few weeks so far in 2025 getting in a few weekend breakfast runs so far despite the chilly weather.

Not my best year for flying, but still got some exploring in. Only managed 25 flying days for a total of 37.7 hours - the least I've flown in a year since I started flying again. Will need to change that for 2025 - looking to fly more often and longer legs!
