Saturday saw fledglings on the water. Along with a mama duck and her babies, we had a quad with a Master learning to scull, and a Master learning to bow. Meanwhile Fred was in a single with another quad doing circuits up and down the relatively quiet flat river!

Six masters went to the Pittsford Regatta on Saturday, competed in four events, and brought home medals in three. The rain never really let up, but we pushed through a long, soggy, wet day with good racing and great spirits!!

The rain held its breath long enough for the Masters to get their practice pieces done.

Masters Monday workout with an eight and a quad: an 8-minute steady warmup, in & outs, then 4x4-minute pieces with a stand up drill sprinkled in between — two at 26, two at 28. Cool water, solid work!

Only 4 signed up for this morning's row, and we weren't sure about going out, but we did! Our quad had a great, albeit wet and cool row. We rowed 10k; Donna stroked beautifully, Fred set us up with drill call-outs, while Jake and I maintained the rhythm. We all agreed that some of the best rows were the ones that inspire camaraderie, like this morning did.

Nice evening on the river despite the light rain. Both the 4+ and the double had productive rows, the flat water made for one of those evenings that reminds you why we row!

Six masters shared a 4+ this morning (while the kids had a scrimmage with a few other clubs). Two of us swapped seats while Donna coxed. Her attention and ability helped us keep the boat straight along the shore—not only in the headwind that seemed to go both ways, but also through the scrimmage traffic.

Coach Matteo helped us fill out an eight, with Coach Sean in the launch. We were happy to get out, even if we couldn’t feel our hands. Congrats to Jake for his first time sweeping (Monday was his first time sculling, so maybe on Saturday he’ll be in a single)!
