I am where I am today because of joining a positive and happy team of other like minded individuals. I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s my story.

This happy team I’m a part of, is the ultimate accountability.❤️

So many ladies I talk to say they couldn’t do what I do as a health and wellness cosch. But when I break it down with them, all I’ve ever really set out to do was be more accountable to my own health, work on having a healthier mindset and relationship with my mind and body….. and help some others along the way.

I didn’t set out to achieve crazy goals in the beginning. I just didn’t want to quit on my wellness journey like I’d done many other times before. 🙋‍♀️

When you show up for others and with others, a funny thing happens - you also show up for yourself, the person we’re most likely to cancel on — you.

When I’ve asked ladies on my team to join me, I wanted each of them to coach to simply stay on the journey with me. And it’s pretty awesome that all of the opportunities that have come out of that simple choice have come because they said YES!

To the ladies on Team Empower, Thanks for doing fitness & life with me. I’m grateful and humbled that over the years I’ve built a business out of taking care of myself and others ♥️.

Begin where you are. Don’t wait for someone else to change things for you. You’ve got to do it yourself.

Change isn’t always easy and it’s not fast.

I’m training again. But I’m training as a beginner runner.

You are Probabaly thinking - wait, what?! But yes. I’m retraining myself. Starting where I am at this moment.

I’ve been training in recent weeks to slow down so I can speed up. To slow down and run based on heart rate so that on my faster runs, but heart rate is lower and not higher. And it can sustain the hard more efficiently. I’ve also been training my run cadence and my form. Practicing drills to be more efficient.

As my body gets older, I’m trying to preserve it. Not every workout is to beat myself up. I’m training for life and longevity and not calories burned or pounds lost. Training with purpose is my kind of training these days and I’m excited for my new focus! To be strong and confident AF and to be injury free 🙌

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦? ⁣

𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 ⁣

It’s one of the most common questions I get asked when I share my journey is what changed from the picture on the left to the picture on the right. ⁣

My answer is not the most glamorous and most often not what most want to hear...⁣

𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. ⁣

2 years ago I drew a line in the sand and decided to stop falling on and off track. ⁣

Instead, I picked a super slow, realistic, and sustainable approach to weight loss. ⁣ Ot was led by a registered dietitian who was going to teach me the science behind nutrition.

I stayed consistent and patient. ⁣

I trusted the process. ⁣

And gave it time. ⁣

The girl on the left focused on dialing in on her nutrition, following the program, learning what it is that food groups do for my body, enjoying treats instead of stressing over them and just learning to change my relationship with food.

The girl on the right does the exact same thing. ⁣

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵‘𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥? ⁣

2 years of time passed.⁣
I didn’t give up. I trusted the process. I was willing to try and give it TIME!
❌there is no magic pill or drink that will be sustainable long term!

So here’s the ⁣ good news… you can always choose to do the same. ⁣

𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐈’𝐦 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬? Would you rather have slow progress that is sustainable for life or fast progress that is harder to maintain?!

I am by no means a running expert, but as a running enthusiast for the last 15 years, I’ve learned that slowing down your pace to get faster is a must on your EZ run days. And in the heat and humidity, slowing down is also Ok!

Thunder thighs - a name that still haunts me.

I remember being told that in Jr High and High School by some peers and my confidence was shattered. I bet to say it affected me in all sports and dance. That name today still makes me angry.

I wish body positivity was talked about more when we were/are younger. Strong vs. skinny.

So yes - today, I’m the coach and instructor with thick thighs but I’m also strong AF.⁣

I sometimes find myself in the comparison game again, and it sucks. But, I always have to come back to how far I’ve come and how good and healthy I am and feel. I’ve come a long way from a lot of mental issues around comparing my body In negative way and dieting and restricting to just be skinny and look like them. Ugh! Have you ever been there?

My goals today look different than they did even just 5 years ago. Now, it’s progress over perfection. It’s not about the 6 pack abs & scale but rather becoming comfortable in my own skin and having the energy to keep up with my kids and do all the things with them without feeling limited.

Yesterday my friend complimented me on my strong looking legs and it reminded me of how far I’ve come both physically & mentally.⁣ 💪

🇺🇸 4 miles on the FOURTH!

These two joined us in the rain this morning as we got in our weekly run! I remember biking alongside my dad when I was younger. When I had the boys and would push them In the stroller, I looked forward to the day they would ride with me. Today was their maiden voyage and it was so fun and they did so good.

Rain + Family Workout = Memories in the Making ❤️🤍💙
